Freedom of Information and Privacy issues are
in a constant state of transition. With this, and your needs in
mind, the organizers of this year's conference and training sessions
have designed a program that meets both the practical concerns
of officials dealing with the Act and addresses pressing issues,
such as privacy in the private sector and the future of freedom
of information and privacy in our changing technological and social
environments.
Separate workshops will be held for provincial
government departments and local public bodies.
Speakers with experience in administering the
Act, and information professionals and experts, from Alberta and
other jurisdictions, both at the provincial and municipal levels,
will be offering their knowledge and insights.
Advanced sessions will deal with hands-on experiences
while introductory sessions will provide an orientation to the
Act aimed at those new to the legislation.

The registration fee covers all sessions, refreshments, and luncheons for both days as well as the reception on Day 1 (cash bar).

For your convenience, the organizers of Information
and Privacy '97 have established a "Conference Rate"
at several hotels that are within walking distance from the Edmonton
Convention Centre.
Participants are responsible for making their own
reservations by calling the hotels directly and referring to the
special rate under "Information and Privacy '97". (Rates
do not include applicable taxes).
